The goal of project 2 was to create a website for a local business within our hometowns. The end result would be both a desktop and mobile version for the site.
The business I chose to create a website for is called Lettuce Inn. It exists in a town called Ramsey, NJ and is a health food restaurant specializing in wraps and sandwiches. Additionally, they sell fresh smoothies, a variety of beverages and side snacks to enjoy with your meal (protein bars, chips, pretzels, etc). Much like the menu, the concept of the restaurant is very quick and simple in regards to both the ordering process as well as the design. For this reason, the website will reflect a simplistic and fresh atmosphere with emphasis on ingredients, and color.
Because they do not have an existing website, I was free to design it however I wanted and include any brand new features that would create a user-benefit for visiting the site. The feature I decided to emphasize on the site is an online ordering process where users can place their order online and designate a pick-up time and date for their order.
The next new aspect of the business I decided to include within the website is the ability for customers to sign up as members. This will provide them with the ability to take advantage of a rewards and perks system as well as an order history feature that can speed-up their order checkout process. Through their profile, users will be able to accumulate points through visits and redeem these points for rewards. They will also have the ability to save a credit card on file for future purchases.
Another feature I decided to include was a section for customer reviews. As a local business, Lettuce Inn relies heavily on word-of-mouth to gain exposure and expand their customer base. Because of this, the site will offer a list of customer reviews and a posting page where users can post their own comments on their experience. Through this feature, Lettuce Inn will create an open and honest relationship with their customers and have the opportunity to fix any issues that may arise.
